GST on Delta Exchange futures

PerpScale · Updated · how we check numbers

In short

On Delta Exchange India, 18% GST is charged on the trading fee — and on liquidation fees — not on your position value, margin or profit. So a 0.05% taker fee on BTCUSD really costs 0.059% of each leg's value, and a 0.02% maker fee costs 0.0236%. On a 1000-lot BTCUSD round trip from 100,000 to 101,000, taker both ways, the fees are $50.00 + $50.50 and GST adds $18.09, for $118.59 (₹10,080.15) in total. Funding payments are a separate cost.

What GST applies to on Delta Exchange

Delta's help centre says GST is charged “on the trading fee and liquidation fee paid by you”, and its fees page lists 18% on trading fees. In practice:

  • Trading fees on entry and exit — 18% GST added to each fee.
  • Liquidation fees, if a position is liquidated — 18% GST added.
  • Not your position value, margin or profit: GST is a tax on the service fee, not on the trade.

The fee rate you really pay

effective rate = fee rate × (1 + 0.18)
taker 0.05% → 0.059%
maker 0.02% → 0.0236%

What this article doesn't cover

GST on fees is only one part of the tax picture. Income tax on profits and TDS rules depend on your situation and change over time — check with a tax professional. This site counts GST on fees in every calculation and nothing else.
