Delta Exchange brokerage charges in rupees
PerpScale · Updated · how we check numbers
In short
Delta Exchange India charges brokerage as a percentage of each leg's value (lots × contract size × price), not per order: on BTCUSD 0.05% for taker orders and 0.02% for maker orders, plus 18% GST on the fee. Opening and closing are charged separately. A round trip of 1000 BTCUSD lots from 100,000 to 101,000, taker both ways, costs $118.59 — ₹10,080.15 at Delta's ₹85/$ rate. Because the fee follows position value, the same ₹10,000 of margin costs 1.18% of the margin per round trip at 10× and 11.80% at 100×.
How Delta Exchange charges brokerage
There is no flat fee per order. Each leg — the entry and the exit — pays a percentage of its notional value, and GST is added to that fee. Which rate applies depends on how the order fills: a taker order fills immediately against the order book, a maker order rests on the book until someone fills it.
notional = lots × contract size × price fee = notional × rate (rate = taker or maker, per leg) GST = (entry fee + exit fee) × 18% charges = entry fee + exit fee + GST charges ₹ = charges $ × 85
Delta settles in US dollars and converts at a fixed ₹85 per dollar, so the rupee figure is the dollar charge × 85.
Worked example in rupees
Long 1000 BTCUSD lots (0.001 BTC each) at 100,000, closed at 101,000, taker both ways:
| Item | USD |
|---|---|
| Entry fee (100,000 × 1 BTC × 0.05%) | $50.00 |
| Exit fee (101,000 × 1 BTC × 0.05%) | $50.50 |
| GST 18% | $18.09 |
| Total charges | $118.59 (₹10,080.15) |
| Profit before charges | $1,000.00 |
| Profit after charges | $881.41 (₹74,919.85) |
These are the same figures Delta's own fee calculator shows for this trade (case B2′ in our methodology).
Maker vs taker: what the same trade costs
The same 1000-lot trade with each combination of order types:
| Order types | Charges (USD) | Charges (₹) | Net profit (₹) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Taker in, taker out | $118.59 | ₹10,080.15 | ₹74,919.85 |
| Maker in, taker out | $83.19 | ₹7,071.15 | ₹77,928.85 |
| Taker in, maker out | $82.84 | ₹7,041.06 | ₹77,958.94 |
| Maker in, maker out | $47.44 | ₹4,032.06 | ₹80,967.94 |
Stop-loss orders usually fill as taker, so assume taker on the exit unless you close with a limit order.
Why brokerage looks high with leverage
Leverage lets you open a bigger position for the same margin, and the fee follows the position, not the margin. ₹10,000 of margin on BTCUSD at 100,000, taker in and out at the same price:
| Leverage | Lots | Position value | Charges | % of margin |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10× | 11 | ₹93,500.00 | ₹110.33 | 1.18% |
| 50× | 58 | ₹4,93,000.00 | ₹581.74 | 5.90% |
| 100× | 117 | ₹9,94,500.00 | ₹1,173.51 | 11.80% |
Fees on other contracts
Not every contract has BTCUSD's rates. Delta India has 3 fee tiers across its 237 perpetuals:
| Taker | Maker | Contracts | e.g. |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.05% | 0.02% | 196 | BTCUSD, ETHUSD, SOLUSD |
| 0.02% | 0.02% | 38 | KORUBUSD, QQQXUSD, SNDKBUSD |
| 0.01% | 0.01% | 3 | XAUTUSD, PAXGUSD, SLVONUSD |
Every contract's rate is in the contract specifications.
How to keep charges down
- Enter with limit orders that rest on the book (maker) when you are not in a hurry.
- Trade fewer, larger moves: charges are the same whether the price moves 0.1% or 5%.
- Size from your stop, not from your margin — high leverage multiplies charges along with the position.
- Check Delta's fees page for any running fee offer; this site leaves offers out.
FAQ
Is Delta Exchange brokerage charged on margin or on position value?
On position value (notional): lots × contract size × price, for the entry and again for the exit. That's why the charge as a share of margin grows with leverage — 1.18% at 10× and 11.80% at 100× for a taker round trip.
Is GST included in Delta Exchange brokerage?
No, it is added on top: 18% of the fee. A 0.05% taker fee therefore costs 0.05% × 1.18 of the leg's value.
Does Delta charge brokerage when I close at a loss?
Yes. The exit fee is charged on the exit leg's value whatever the result, and a stop-out usually pays the taker rate.
